Generation GWOT
American KIA
Generation GWOT is a misrepresentated demographic in todays society. While we are classified as Generation X or Millenials, these do not best describe who we are. Generation GWOT is composed of veterans who were between the ages of 10 and 18 on September, 11th 2001.

The Global War on Terror (GWOT) formed a demographic that had yet to exist in American history. A group of kids that were raised from early childhood during a time of war. A group of kids that watched our nation be attacked from our school desks. We watched our military forces engage in deadly battles almost daily on our t.v.'s. We grew up waiting for our chance to go to war.

We joined our nation's Armed Forces knowing that we would go to war. We didn't join the military for the GI Bill or "Free" Healthcare. We joined because there were bodies that needed holes put in them and we wanted to be the ones to do it. In alot of cases, we knew from a very young age that we would go to war and we prepared for it.

Now that our war is "over", we are left in a very odd situation. The purpose for which we devoted a majority of our childhood and all of our adulthood is now over. We a misunderstood and alone in a world that doesn't really want us. We are Generation GWOT.
“The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot.”

Gen. James "Mad Dog" Mattis (USMC, Retired)
